Frequently Asked
Logistics & Staging
Do I need to be home for delivery?
It’s best if someone is present when we drop off your rentals so we can go over safety and operations. However, if it’s simply not possible, we can review over the phone and leave you with materials to help ensure your outing occurs with no issues.
Can I leave the equipment outside?
Outside is fine as long as it is somewhere it won’t get stolen (not viewable from the street, for example). You are responsible for the equipment until we collect it.
Do I need to clean it?
No. We handle all ash removal and deep cleaning during our pickup.
Do you require a security deposit?
Instead of requiring a cash deposit, we simply place a temporary hold on your credit card prior to your gathering—$200 for a single item rental, or $400 if you are renting both the fire pit and the pizza oven. This hold is released immediately following our morning collection, provided the equipment is secured and undamaged.
Safety & Burn Bans
What happens if there is a burn ban?
Safety is our priority. If Multnomah County declares a “Red Day” or burn ban that impacts your plans, we are happy to reschedule or provide a full refund. You can monitor air quality here: multco.us/info/air-quality-and-health
Are pizza ovens impacted by burn bans?
Generally, yes. Most local burn bans include wood-fired appliances.
If there is a total burn ban, why still offer fire pit and pizza oven rentals?
Many of our customers rent from us over a long weekend when they are traveling outside the county to places that may or may not have the same bans in effect. We recommend you check with the local fire department anywhere you plan to bring our equipment.
The Ooni Karu 2
What size pizzas can I make in the Karu 2?
The Karu 2 is designed for authentic 12-inch professional-style pizzas.
How easy is it to use?
Very easy. It reaches 950°F in just 15 minutes, and we provide a quick-start guide so you can start launching pizzas right away, regardless of your experience level.
Is the Karu 2 easy to transport? How heavy is it?
Yes, it is highly portable. It weighs just over 28 lbs and the legs fold up. We provide a custom carrying cover so you can easily move it.
How should I store it after use?
Once it has completely cooled, simply brush off any loose debris, snap on the provided carrying cover, and store it out of the elements until we pick it up.
What accessories come with my rental?
Every rental includes the Karu 2, the baking stone, a professional pizza peel, and an infrared thermometer for precise heat management.
Can you guarantee my pizza will taste good?
We cannot. We will, however, leave you with some pizza best practices to ensure you are getting the most out of your rental.
The Solo Stove Basecamp
Can I use it on my deck or other composite surface?
Yes. We provide high-temperature staging pads with every rental.
Is it truly smokeless?
Yes, once it reaches a “secondary burn.” By drawing air through the bottom vents and heating it within the double walls, it burns off smoke before it ever leaves the pit.
What type of wood should I use?
To get the best out of your pizza oven or fire pit in particular, we strongly recommend using our kiln-dried, seasoned hardwood. Standard hardware or grocery store wood often retains too much moisture for professional performance.
Is it truly portable?
Yes. It weighs roughly 20 lbs and is easily carried by one person.
Can I touch the fire pit while it is burning?
Absolutely not. The stainless steel walls become incredibly hot. Maintain a safe perimeter, especially with children and pets.
How much wood do I need?
A standard evening fire typically requires 1 to 2 bundles. We offer various firewood tiers at checkout to match your timeline.
Can I cook on the Basecamp?
Solo Stove recommends you do not cook with this model—it is primarily used for backyard gatherings of 5–7+ people.
